On Saturday, August 22nd, 2015 at 7:30 will be the second annual Green Division Projects, “Five Points – Philly Bike Ride (PBR).”
The details and logistics of this ride are a little different than a typical group ride. Please read all of the following information so you understand how this ride is structured. The idea of the Five Points Ride is foremost to create a reason to ride bikes around Philly, to five different bars at a pace that each person or small groups of people will enjoy. We intend to incorporate every sort of bike rider on any type of bike to allow people to ride in whatever way they want. The ride is set up so that fast riders can ride at their own pace without having to wait for anyone and people who enjoy riding slower do not feel pressured to speed up. This is not a group ride where everyone rides together. It is just a reason to ride to five different bars in Philadelphia and hang out with a group of other like-minded people once you get there. This is one part bike ride, one part pub-crawl and one part urban experience. Or another reason to go out and ride your bike around Philly.
With that stated, this ride will start at Tattooed Mom’s (530 South Street). We will meet inside and plan to begin riding at about 8:00. Feel free to get a post-ride beverage. Once in motion, each person or sub-groups can ride along any route at a pace that will get them to Dahlak (4708 Baltimore Avenue) in West Philly. After hydrating, “dehydrating” and spending a bit of time on the back patio we will ride east to La Peg (140 North Columbus Blvd. @ Race Street). We will hang out in the beer garden outside. Once you feel rested and again fully “hydrated” we will head south to The Pope (1501 East Passyunk Avenue) where we plan to drink, exchange more traffic stories or other relevant pieces of information. Next we will ride north to Kellianns Bar and Grill (1549 Spring Garden Street). After you are fully satisfied we invite you to ride back to Tattooed Mom’s where we will end the ride. Hopefully you will have had fun, remained safe and enjoyed your time on the 5 Points – PBR Ride.
Please keep in mind that you are responsible for your own safety, bicycle maintenance along the way as well as finding your own route from each location to the next. Please inspect your bike before heading out on this ride. Bring tools, an extra tube, air pump or whatever you think you will need. This does not mean people will not offer help and hopefully there will be other people who ride at a similar route or pace that you do. But, there is not an official route or pace to this group keeping everyone together in a pack. Helmets, safety, your style of riding and bike of choice are entirely up to you. However, we do recommend you wear a helmet, put lights on your bike and keep your personal safety as well as the safety of others in mind. You may ride fast or race with your friends from one bar to the next or you can just cruise and take as much time as you like. Lastly, if you do decide to overindulge we are not responsible for any personal injuries. Please ride safely and be responsible for yourself.
